Introduction to Fly Tying
This class to for beginners of for someone who wishes a refresher on fly tying. Covers basic technique used in fly tying including tools, materials, fly design and tying several basic fish catching fly patterns. Class can be tailored to specific needs or interests.
2 sessions 2.5 hrs and 4hrs.

Saltwater Flies
Learn to tie several effective saltwater flies that are essential for bonefish, tarpon and redfish. Flies tied will include Merkin Crab, Deceiver and Crazy Charlie.
1 session 4 to 5 hrs.

Learn to tie several effective fly patterns for both pike and muskie. This class also includes a short introduction to pike and muskie fly fishing including leaders and bite tippets, pike and muskie fly design, types of hooks used and natural versus synthetic materials.

Tying Flies with Spun Deerhair
Learn how to select proper deer hair for spinning and the basic tools and techniques required for creating tightly spun deer hair flies. You will learn to tie Tapp’s Bass Bug and a Dahlberg Diver.

Tying Flies with Foam
Introduction on tying flies with foam and discussion on the types of foam available and construction methods. You will learn to tie foam patterns for bass, trout and saltwater.

Introduction to Featherwing Streamers for Trout and Salmon
Introduction to tying the Rangeley Streamers which were made famous by Carrie Stevens in Upper Dam, Maine. Learn how to construct wings and build smooth floss bodies for beautiful and very fishable streamers for trout and salmon. You will learn to tie the Grey Ghost and Black Ghost and how to tie featherwing tandem streamers.

Introduction to Tube Flies
Learn the basic components that comprise tube flies and how to tie tube flies on plastic and metal tubes. Learn to tie some common patterns on tubes. This class will require the purchase of some supplies and tube fly tool.

Tying Flies for Bass
Learn how to tie and fish several productive smallmouth and largemouth bass flies for the Ottawa area. Flies will include Murray's Hellgramite, Rattlin Bass Fly and Polar and Plamer Chenille Buggers.

Tying Effective Stillwater Flies for Trout
Introduction of stillwater fly fishing basics, aquatic entomology, equipment (rods, lines, leaders, flies), and strategies. You will learn to tie several effective flies for local lakes for rainbow and brook trout.

Tying Flies for NE Coastal Saltwater Fly Fishing
Learn to tie several effective flies that are essential for stripped bass, bluefish and weakfish. Class will also cover fishing locations, techniques and tackle.

Tying Spey Flies for Steelhead and Salmon
Spey flies have their origin on the river Spey in Scotland. The origins of the spey fly style will be discussed as well as the traditional and substitute materials used in modern spey flies. You will learn to tie three spey patterns that are effective in great lakes tributaries.
